Safari: Drag and drop files to upload

Safari’s “Choose File” button for uploading files is a drop target. You can drop a file from Finder or the proxy icon from a document you have open.
Editor’s note: I’m pretty sure this is new to Safari 4, and possibly restricted to Safari 4 running on Snow Leopard. Can anyone comment to help clarify?
Update: Albi in the comments says this works in Safari 4 on 10.5 Leopard. George from the comments claims that this was in Safari even before version 4.

I’ve done this for a long time now, for a few images I’ve uploaded to deviantART or files in other places. It was also available under 10.4 Tiger. I’m uncertain if it were later updates (10.4.5+) or not.
