Airport menu connecting animation

In addition to showing network strengths, when connecting to a network in 10.6 you now get a little animation in the airport menu with the bars lighting up in sequence up and down.

Much better than in 10.5 and earlier where you could be left guessing as to what was happening.

  1. The Airport icon connection strength on this mac mini and 10.6 is always shown as solid or 3 curves / bars. Even though it is only one curve in the join network screen. Other windows systems confirm the signal strength at ~75 feet is 25-50% depending on orientation.

  2. This is the third time I’ve seen this topic, now.

    1st time: http://mac.finerthingsin.com/2009/09/21/snow-leopards-airport-icon-and-menu-are-more-informative

    I’m probably going to encounter this a few times more. It’s not new anymore, it’s been covered and all has been said.
    If this blog is by one person: it’s becoming a bother;
    If it’s by multiple people: do some back reading, before you post…

    • Looks like the second “Airport menu connecting animation” post was a duplicate. Must have been a quirk from when I moved these sites from Tumblr to WordPress. Thanks for the catch, it’s been removed.
